Expressing "a little too" with "you dian"

有点儿 means "a bit" — and almost always a bit of something unwelcome.

有点(儿) + Adj.

How it works

我有点饿, 这个有点贵. It goes before the adjective and carries a hint of complaint.

That negative slant matters: 有点漂亮 sounds wrong, because being pretty isn't a problem. For a positive quality use 很 or 挺…的.

Don't confuse it with 一点儿, which comes after the adjective and asks for a change: 便宜一点儿 — make it a bit cheaper.
