Can I change my plan at any time?
- Yes! You can switch between monthly and annual billing, or cancel your subscription at any time. Changes will be reflected in your next billing cycle.

Is there a free trial?
- Yes — every new account automatically starts with a 14-day trial of the full Pro plan: unlimited stories and unlimited cards. No credit card required. When it ends you simply move to the free plan.

What happens when my trial ends?
- Nothing dramatic. You move to the free plan and keep everything you've learned — your reviews, lists, and stats. Story generation becomes limited to 1 per week, audio switches to browser voices, and your deck keeps working (you just can't grow it past 200 cards).

What does the free plan's 200-card limit actually mean?
- It's the number of words you can have actively in your review deck at once — roughly HSK 1 plus a good chunk of HSK 2. You can still browse every list, word, and example sentence in the app; the cap is only on how many cards you're actively scheduling for spaced review. When you hit 200 you can retire cards you've mastered to make room, or go Pro for an unlimited deck. It's a real ceiling for a committed learner, not a teaser — most people pass it within a couple of months of daily study.

Is this a full Chinese course? What does it not do?
- We'd rather be straight with you: this is a spaced-repetition vocabulary and reading tool, not a from-scratch course. There are no video lessons or a structured grammar curriculum, and while word pages show stroke-order animations, we don't drill or grade your handwriting. What we do well is help you learn and retain words on the HSK lists, hear them in neural-voice audio, and read them in AI-generated stories at your level. Many people pair us with a textbook or tutor for grammar and speaking, and use us for the vocabulary that usually falls out of your head.

Why annual billing, and why does Pro cost what it costs?
- Learning Chinese is a long game — the spaced-repetition schedule pays off over months, not days, so annual billing matches how the app is actually used. At $79/year you're paying for about 6.6 months of the $11.99 monthly plan and getting all 12 — roughly 5 months free — which works out to about $1.52 a week. That price covers real costs on every study session: AI story generation and neural voice audio aren't free for us to run, and Pro removes the story and card caps that keep those costs sane on the free plan. If month-to-month suits you better, the $11.99 monthly plan is right there with no long-term commitment.

I subscribed to Basic — what happens to my plan?
- Nothing changes for you. Existing Basic subscribers keep their plan and price — you'll keep unlimited stories and an unlimited deck at $4.99/mo. If you ever want the full Pro feature set, you can upgrade from your account page.
