Cause and effect with "yinwei" and "suoyi"
Chinese uses both halves of the pair — cause first, then result.
因为 + Cause，所以 + Effect
How it works
因为饿了，所以吃饭 — because I was hungry, I ate. English picks one connector; Chinese happily uses both.
Either half can stand alone, and in speech the 因为 is often dropped: 我饿了，所以吃饭.
The cause always comes first. To answer a 为什么 question, 因为 alone is enough.
Examples
yīn wèi è le, suǒ yǐ wǒ men chī fàn le
因为饿了，所以我们吃饭了。
We ate because we were hungry.
yīn wèi xià yǔ, suǒ yǐ wǒ méi qù
因为下雨，所以我没去。
I didn't go because it was raining.
yīn wèi wǒ xǐ huan zhōng guó cài
因为我喜欢中国菜。
Because I like Chinese food.
