zuì

Superlative "zui"

最 is the superlative — the most, the -est.

最 + Adj. (+ 了)

How it works

最好, 最贵, 最喜欢. It sits directly in front of the adjective or the verb of preference.

Unlike English, no article or "of all" is needed: 谁最有钱? — who's the richest?

最 also attaches to verbs of liking: 我最喜欢中国菜.

Examples

  • shéi zuì yǒu qián?

    谁最有钱?

    Who's the richest?

  • wǒ zuì xǐ huan zhōng guó cài

    我最喜欢中国菜。

    Chinese food is my favourite.

  • zhè shì zuì hǎo de bàn fǎ

    这是最好的办法。

    This is the best way.
