Basic comparisons with "meiyou"

没有 is how you say "not as… as" — the standard negative comparison.

Noun 1 + 没(有) + Noun 2 + Adj.

How it works

你没有我胖 — you're not as heavy as me. This, not 不比, is the everyday negative of a 比 sentence.

那么 can be added for emphasis: 你没有我那么胖.

不比 does exist but means something narrower — "no more … than" — and is used to rebut a claim.

nǐ méi yǒu wǒ pàng
你没有我胖。
You're not as heavy as I am.
jīn tiān méi yǒu zuó tiān lěng
今天没有昨天冷。
It's not as cold as yesterday.
zhōng wén méi yǒu nǐ xiǎng de nà me nán
中文没有你想的那么难。
