Verbs preceded by "gei"
给 before the verb marks the person the action is aimed at.
Subj. + 给 + Target + Verb + Obj.
How it works
现在不要给他打电话 — don't ring him now. 打电话 doesn't hand anything over, so 给 has to come first.
Verbs of communication take this pattern: 给他打电话, 给我发邮件, 给你介绍一下.
