ne

Questions with "ne"

呢 bounces a question back — "and you?" — without repeating it.

Noun + 呢 ?

How it works

我很好。你呢? means "I'm fine. And you?". 呢 attaches to a noun and inherits the question that was just asked.

It also asks where something is when the context is obvious: 我的钥匙呢? — where are my keys?

This is the everyday use. 呢 has a second, softening role at the end of statements that HSK 2 covers.
